Leave No Trace

As environmental researchers, we should take all possible steps to “leave no trace”. Leave No Trace is a national educational program to inform visitors about reducing the damage caused by outdoor activities, particularly non-motorized recreation. Although the logistics and considerations may be slightly different with respect to field research, the overlying principles are the same. This includes carrying supplies into and out of all work sites. If you install flagging or equipment at your sites, be sure to return to clean up and decommission equipment. Follow other “Leave No Trace” recommendations with respect to hygiene practices in the field.
