The lab has purchased two Spot X GPS communication devices for researchers to use in the field in areas where cell service may be unreliable. Keep in mind that no one type of communication device is 100% reliable, so it’s important to equip yourself with alternatives whenever possible.

They have two-way capabilities, but the number of custom messages are limited to 20 per month. Any messages exceeding that limit will be charged back to the project. To save costs, it is a good idea to take advantage of the options for customizable, pre-programmed messages. We can send an unlimited number of these types of messages every month.
